Is the new Fifa the transfer of the season or the flop of the decade?
We are 11 states the advertising related to the game, somewhat inaccurate as the game has been around for decades, so what is on offer for fans in the 11th season of its current
EA Sports game have always been about the presentation, all the teams, the commentary that would not be a miss in the latest premier league encounter, the kits and so on.
In fact the old PES fans argument has been Fifa is all style and no substance.
This argument has been going since Arsenal last won a competitive trophy, no we won’t include the Emirates Cup as a ‘competitive’ trophy.
However Fifa is now the choice of football pros and there are many reasons for this.
The game is the most realistic currently on the market, from the bone crunching tackles of Paul Scholes to the flair and style from teams such as Barcelona, teams and players feel the part.
Passing feels smooth and not as easy as before. Shooting also feels much better than in previous incarnations where the ball felt too light.
But now with the right power you can score some right screamers
The aforementioned goalkeepers are much better this time around saving spectacularly from 30 yard strikes destined for the top corner.
One criticism of these however is they still seem unable to cope with the more simple shots.
They are a lot better however than the PES keepers however who make a Robert Green clanger with alarming regularity ( see the above video for some examples although the gk roling the ball out to opposing plyers is in fifa too, and is usually the players fault)
I played through a season and Chelsea won the title convincingly, destroying all those in front of them, just as in real life.
Career Mode is also a new mode, offering the option to start as a player and work your way up to player manager and finally manager.
It is always a joy to take your team whether it be Liverpool or Accrington Stanley to Champions League success.
The Master League in PES still has more depth however featuring coaches, youth team and players acting up. Similar to Wayne Rooney so don’t be surprised if your star player puts in a transfer request
Fifa wins the battle of the two games again this year but it is a close run. Fifa sealing a hard thought win in injury time.
This can only be a benefit to fans as next year both developers will surely put even more effort into taking the crown of football title of the year
