24 Episode 22 review

This series has had its ups and downs to be honest, currently I thought it was in a bit of a down period but this episode was great. Reality has been completely ruled out by this stage, although most critical followers of 24 will argue thats been the case for a few series now. However I think ditching the grip on reality this time is making the finale more exciting (Jack hijacking a helicopter a few episodes back aside)

I don't want to spoil too much but Jack is certainly back to his kick ass self and is definitely on a revenge mission of epic proportions. I'm a fan of revenge style movies or dramas so thats why I enjoy this aspect. Of course at the end of the last episode we saw Jack finding out President Logan was involved with the Russians so we could guess he was going to face some kind of come uppance but what follows is somewhat unexpected even by Bauer standards.

My one complaint is how many times is Jack going to be injured but struggle on regardless? I mean he's already died at least once in the land of 24 and had his ass kicked by the Chinese, the Americans, the Russians, I think only us Brits have left him alone, although saying that wasn't one of the Villians a few series back a Brit?
This is one of the tired aspects of 24 which makes me grateful the season will be coming to an end, that the mole in CTU every season and CTU being blown up every second season, Surely the terrorists might want to try targetting somewhere else when they know Jack is in town.

I feel the last two episodes are going to be quite explosive and the way it's shaping up I'm not sure how the movie will take place as it seems too much is at stake in this series, perhaps it might be a 24 begins style set up? Hopefully it will be better than the average 24 redemption

24: Seasons 1-7If you haven't already checked out 24 I strongly recommend you do as its highly addictive. If I had to compare it to a book, I would say any James Patterson novel is the best analogy, you feel dirty while reading it but its a guilty pleasure, and sure hits the spot at least temporarily. Season 1 and 2 are great, 3 not so much, 5 has a pretty shocking opening but doesn't quite fulfill the potential, the same with series 6. 7 despite being the most recent apart from the current one of course is one of the more forgetable series even though it brings back some old characters. On the whole though 24 is right up there for me with shows such as The Sopranos, The Wire and Dexter as much watch televison.
