Welcome

More than likely you've stumbled across this page by accident, welcome to English Man in Suwon, a blog about one suckers journey to the other side of the world, and how he coped. I don't and never will, claim to be the oracle of all things Korea, just my own take on things. KOREA FIGHTING!! as they say

Long time no see!

Yes since my PES 2008 binge and the last episodes of both Lost and 24 airing over the last few days I've been stuck almost constantly in front of the tv, apart from work that is so have somewhat neglected the blog.

My Spurs team is now sitting comfortably in the top 6 a marked improvement from mid table last year, still struggling though. Doing alright in the Uefa Cup though so could be some silverware in store this year (fingers crossed)

Anyway I digress there has been other pressing matters that have come to the fore in the last few days as most people will have seen in the news, yup North Korea has been up to mischief and officially been blamed for causing the Cheonan ship sinking.

What does that mean for me then? Possibly a blog name change to English Man formly from Suwon, ala Prince but its very strange here as most people are going about their usual business seemingly oblivious to the outside worlds reporting of this issue. The American involvement with Hilary Clinton dropping by as a conclusion to her Asian tour and saying there should be action taken against North Korea for what they've done, has heightened tensions - The Won is now raising sharply against the pound, to quote Jack Bauer "Dammit!" Luckily I'd sent the majority of the money I expected to send back home already so the rest of the money i have left will no doubt go towards the Skyrocketing flight prices double "Dammit!" and giving the mother in law the remaining part of the money I owe her for our wedding ceremony treble "Dammit!"

It seems then we're sitting on a potential timebomb here so I'm quite glad to be getting out of Korea next month, although as I mentioned before no-one else seems remotely concerned over the issue so it could be an example of the western media blowing a domestic issue out of proportion. Something we have seen previously with North Korea, last years Missile test coming to mind.

Alas never fear I will remain here to the bitter end so the blog won't be disappearing anytime soon, if it does, has been the case in the last week, it will probably be more related to watching too much tv or playing too much PES 2008. Next month the World Cup will probably take up a lot of my free time too so I apologise in advance!
